Wolfram Müller ist Professor für Medizinische Physik and Biophysik an der Medizinischen Universität Graz, Österreich. Seine Forschungsgebiete umfassen Biophysik, Medizinische Physik, Entwicklung von Messmethoden, Körperzusammensetzung und Anthropometrie, Sportmedizin und Leistungsphysiologie, Trainingswissenschaften, Biomechanik, Sportphysik, und Sportaerodynamik. Er war Gründungspräsident der International Association of Sciences in Medicine and Sports (IASMS; www.iasms.org), Leiter der IOC Working Group on Body Composition, Health and Performance (2009-2015), Direktor des Centre of Human Performance Research Graz (2007-2011), Projektleiter des IOC Prize Award Projekts: Underweight Problems in Sports (Olympische Spiele 2002) und Gastprofessor am Dept. of Bioengineering und am Cardio Vascular Research and Training Institute an der Universität von Utah (2000/2001). Er erhielt den Houska-Preis (2010) für die Entwicklung einer standardisierten Ultraschall-Messmethode zur Bestimmung des Körperfetts. Er hat viele Eliteathleten und olympische Medaillengewinner betreut (im alpinen Schifahren, Schispringen, nordischen Kombination, Bob, Segeln, Turnen), war Konditionstrainer der österreichischen Schinationalmannschaft (1980-1983), hat als Geräteturntrainer gearbeitet und auch Trainingsprogramme für die Allgemeinbevölkerung entwickelt.
Liaison between sport practice and science
Wolfram Müller is Professor of Medical Physics and Biophysics at the Medical University of Graz, Austria. His research fields include biophysics, medical physics, development of measurement techniques, body composition and anthropometry, sports medicine and exercise physiology, training sciences, biomechanics, sport physics and sport aerodynamics. W. Müller was Founding President of the International Association of Sciences in Medicine and Sports (IASMS; www.iasms.org), leader of the IOC Working Group on Body Composition, Health and Performance (2009-2015), director of the Centre of Human Performance Research Graz (2007-2011), research leader of the IOC Prize Award Project Underweight Problems in Sports (2002 Olympic Games, Utah, USA), and visiting professor at the Department of Bioengineering and at the Cardio Vascular Research and Training Institute at the University of Utah (2000/2001). He received the Houska-Preis (2010) for developing the standardised body fat measurement method with B-mode ultrasound. He has supported many elite athletes and Olympic medallists (in alpine skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined, bobsleigh, sailing, gymnastics), was coach for condition on the Austrian National Skiing Team (1980-1983), has worked as a coach in artistic gymnastics, and has also developed physical exercise programs for the general public.
